Dr. Faiq Zaidan, the Iraqi Chief Justice, arrived in London on the 20th of Feb 2022 in an official visit aiming to strengthen relations between the judicial authorities in Iraq and the United Kingdom.
During the visit, a memorandum of understanding will be signed articulating the basis of a partnership between the two countries with regards to training Iraqi Judges and judicial investigators as well as providing relevant technical assistance.
The President of the Supreme Judicial Council will hold a number of meetings aimed at strengthening partnerships and exchanging expertise to build a capacity of national criminal justice systems and criminal legal accountability in the field of combating terrorism.
The Iraqi role efforts in relation to combating terrorism will be reviewed in accordance with applicable judicial rules and procedures of Iraqi fulfilment of obligations in international law.
