Iraq Participates in IMO Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers Meetings

The Republic of Iraq participated in the twelfth session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC 12), held at the IMO Headquarters in London from 14 to 18 September 2026, in the presence of IMO Secretary-General Mr Arsenio Dominguez.
The Sub-Committee discussed a number of matters relating to maritime safety, foremost among them proposed amendments to the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code). The discussions formed part of the IMO’s ongoing efforts to promote the use of alternative fuels and support the transition towards a safer and more sustainable maritime transport sector.
The Republic of Iraq was represented at the meetings, on behalf of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the International Maritime Organization, by the Maritime Attaché, Captain Mazen Al-Kaabi.
