Delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq Visits the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies

A delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the United Kingdom, headed by the Deputy Ambassador, Counsellor Amer Abdulhussein Al-Fatlawi, and accompanied by Dr Kosay Al-Ahmady, Cultural Attaché, visited the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, where they met with Mr Farhan Nizami, Director of the Centre.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to develop and strengthen relations between the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq and the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, as well as prospects for cooperation in the academic, educational and cultural fields. They also explored opportunities to promote scholarly and intellectual exchange and to raise awareness of Iraq’s contributions to civilisation, culture and intellectual thought.
Mr Nizami conveyed his greetings to His Excellency Dr Salih Husain Al-Tamimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, and expressed the Centre’s readiness to cooperate with the Embassy. He also extended an invitation to His Excellency the Ambassador to visit the Centre at the earliest opportunity.
The delegation toured the Centre’s facilities and learned about its academic and cultural activities and programmes, as well as its role in promoting dialogue and understanding between cultures and civilisations. The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is one of the United Kingdom’s leading academic institutions specialising in the study of Islam and the Muslim world.
Both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining communication and coordination and working to develop joint programmes and events that contribute to strengthening Iraq’s cultural and academic presence in the United Kingdom, while benefiting from the academic and scholarly expertise offered by the Centre
