Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London Meets IBBC Managing Director to Discuss Preparations for Upcoming Conference and Strengthening Economic Cooperation

His Excellency Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, met with Mr Christophe Michels, Managing Director of the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC), at the Embassy in London.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ongoing preparations for the upcoming Autumn Conference at Cumberland Lodge and reviewed the Council’s future economic agenda.

His Excellency the Ambassador reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued support for the Council’s efforts to advance Iraq’s strategy of economic diversification and strengthen the role of the private sector, highlighting the Council’s position as a key platform that brings together stakeholders from across the business community and creates promising opportunities for companies and business leaders.

The meeting also addressed the impact of the current political and security situation in the region on the Iraqi economy. His Excellency highlighted the measures being taken by the Iraqi Government to foster an attractive investment environment and address the challenges arising from regional developments.

Mr Michels commended the support and facilitation provided by the Embassy for the Council’s activities. He also outlined the Council’s plans to encourage British companies operating in countries neighbouring Iraq to participate in forthcoming conferences, drawing on their experience of operating within the region and navigating its challenges.

The meeting was attended by Counsellor Atheer Alsaedy, Head of the Economic Section at the Embassy.
