Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the United Kingdom Sponsors Seminar Titled “Iraq: From Reconstruction to Prosperity”

The Iraqi Cultural Centre in London hosted a seminar entitled “Iraq: From Reconstruction to Prosperity”, sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the United Kingdom and organised by the Al Kindi Society of Engineers in the United Kingdom. The keynote speaker was His Excellency Eng. Mohammed Sahib Al Daraji, former Minister of Construction and Housing and former Chairman of the Sovereign Guarantees Committee. The event was attended by a distinguished group of academics, engineers and business leaders from the Iraqi community.

The seminar was opened by His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi, who emphasised the Iraqi Government’s and the Embassy’s commitment to supporting projects and expertise that contribute to the development of the private sector and its active role in reconstruction and sustainable development. He reaffirmed their readiness to provide all necessary support and facilities to ensure the success of the Government’s efforts to stimulate and diversify sources of income and strengthen the economy. He further noted that the seminar addressed an important aspect of the incentives and facilities provided by the Government to Iraqi investors and to foreign companies cooperating with them.

The seminar featured extensive discussions on sovereign guarantees and their importance in strengthening investor confidence and encouraging investment in Iraq. Participants also examined investment opportunities, the challenges facing investors, and potential solutions to these challenges, with a view to supporting strategic projects and promoting economic development.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Embassy expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the Al Kindi Society of Engineers in the United Kingdom, its President, Dr Eng. Majid Hamid Al Jabri, His Excellency Eng. Mohammed Sahib Al Daraji, and all participants. The Embassy commended the ideas and perspectives presented during the event and reaffirmed its continued commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen engagement with Iraqi professionals abroad and contribute to Iraq’s reconstruction and prosperity.

The seminar was attended by a number of officials from the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London, alongside members of the technical attachés serving at the mission
