Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Meets the Maestro Alaa Majeed

His Excellency Dr Salih Husain Al-Tamimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, met with the Maestro Alaa Majeed, Conductor of the Iraqi National Ensemble for Musical Heritage and the Sumeriyat Musical Ensemble, to discuss avenues of cooperation in organising a major cultural and artistic festival to be hosted by the Arab Music Academy in London under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the initial plans for the festival, which aims to showcase Iraq’s rich civilisational and cultural heritage and to promote its authentic arts, music and traditional heritage. The festival will highlight the cultural diversity that characterises Iraq while contributing to strengthening its cultural presence in the United Kingdom.
His Excellency the Ambassador reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting cultural and artistic initiatives that strengthen ties with the Iraqi community and promote cultural exchange with British society. He also commended the important role played by Iraqi artists and creative figures in conveying a positive image of Iraq and preserving its rich civilisational legacy.
The Maestro Alaa Majeed outlined the key features of the festival’s artistic programme, expressing his aspiration for the event to serve as a distinguished cultural platform bringing together artists, intellectuals and the wider public, while promoting Iraq’s rich musical and artistic heritage throughout the United Kingdom.
