Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Participates in the Visit of a Delegation from the Central Bank of Iraq and Iraqi Private Banks to London

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom participated in the opening of the visit of a delegation from the Central Bank of Iraq and Iraqi private banks to London. The visit was organised jointly by the British Embassy in Baghdad and the United Kingdom’s Department for Business and Trade, with the participation of representatives from British regulatory and supervisory authorities, as well as international financial and banking institutions.
The Embassy was represented by Counsellor Amer Abdul Hussein Al-Fatlawi on behalf of His Excellency Ambassador Dr Salih Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi, together with Second Secretary Mina Abdulhaleem Al-Saad from the Economic Section.
The visit aims to support the Iraqi banking sector reform programme, strengthen Iraq’s integration into the international financial system, and further develop opportunities for cooperation in the fields of banking compliance, correspondent banking relationships, and digital transformation.
In his remarks, the Embassy’s representative emphasised the importance of the visit in supporting the efforts of the Central Bank of Iraq to modernise the banking sector and enhance international confidence in Iraqi financial institutions. He also commended the ongoing cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the United Kingdom in the financial and banking sectors, noting the continuous progress being achieved in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries.
The visit also featured a series of specialised dialogue sessions and discussions focusing on banking reforms, compliance with international standards, and prospects for expanding cooperation between Iraqi and British financial and banking institutions. These efforts contribute to strengthening financial integration and supporting economic development pathways
