Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Participates in the Opening of the SME Support Forum in London

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom participated in the opening of the SME Support Forum, organised by the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) in London. The event brought together representatives of financial and economic institutions, Iraqi and British companies, and a distinguished group of business leaders, experts, and specialists in the fields of investment, trade, and economic development.

Representing the Embassy at the forum were Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Counsellor Amer Abdulhussein Al-Fatlawi, and Second Secretary Mina Abdulhalim Al-Saad. During the proceedings, the Embassy’s representative delivered remarks conveying the greetings of His Excellency Ambassador Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi and emphasised the importance of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises as a fundamental pillar of sustainable economic development. He underscored their role in strengthening the private sector, expanding prospects for economic and commercial cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom, and supporting efforts to improve the business environment and attract investment in a manner that contributes to economic growth.

The opening session was attended by Baroness Emma Nicholson, alongside a number of Iraqi and British officials and prominent economic figures.

The forum featured a series of specialised sessions addressing ways to support small and medium-sized enterprises and enhance trade and investment cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom. Discussions also covered international expansion, transparency, innovation, digital transformation, the role of young leaders in developing the business environment, and compliance with laws, regulations, and regulatory standards.

In addition, the forum included panel discussions and specialised dialogues on challenges, opportunities, and mechanisms for improving the business environment and strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors in Iraq and the United Kingdom. These discussions aimed to support economic development and broaden the horizons of partnership and cooperation between the two friendly countries.
