Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Receives Delegation from the United Iraqi Medical Association in the UK and Ireland

His Excellency Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, received a delegation from the United Iraqi Medical Association in the UK and Ireland at the Embassy in London, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with Iraqi professionals residing abroad and to support scientific and medical initiatives.

During the meeting, discussions focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the Embassy and the Association in the medical and scientific fields. The parties also explored prospects for supporting Iraqi doctors and advancing healthcare cooperation and professional training programmes that serve members of the Iraqi community and strengthen ties with health and academic institutions in Iraq.

His Excellency the Ambassador emphasised the importance of delivering high-quality specialised training programmes, particularly for allied healthcare professionals and mid-level medical staff. He also highlighted the need to facilitate the transfer of modern scientific knowledge and expertise, as well as to establish twinning partnerships between Iraqi universities and medical colleges and their counterparts in the United Kingdom, thereby contributing to the development of the healthcare sector and the advancement of academic and professional standards.

The Ambassador further commended the Iraqi medical professionals based in the United Kingdom, praising their distinguished scientific and professional expertise and their role in supporting the healthcare sector and transferring modern knowledge and best practices to Iraq.

Members of the Association’s delegation expressed their appreciation to the Iraqi Embassy for its continued commitment to maintaining close engagement with the Iraqi community. They also affirmed their readiness to strengthen joint cooperation across a range of medical and humanitarian fields.

The meeting was attended by Dr Wissam Al-Freiji, Head of the Expatriate Affairs Portfolio at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq.
