Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to London Meets Representative of the Iraqi Publishers Association and Poet Tamim Al-Barghouti

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, received Mr Ahmed Al-Radhi, representing the Iraqi Publishers Association, and the Arab poet Tamim Al-Barghouti at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London.
During the meeting, the participants discussed prospects for cultural and literary cooperation, including the possibility of organising joint poetry evenings in the British capital bringing together a distinguished group of Iraqi and Arab poets. Such initiatives would contribute to strengthening the Arab cultural presence in international forums and provide broader opportunities for literary and cultural exchange.
The participants also discussed a proposal to organise an international Iraqi and Arab book fair in London, which would serve as a platform for showcasing Iraqi and Arab literary and intellectual production to British and European audiences, while also supporting publishing and translation initiatives.
The meeting further addressed the importance of launching a project to translate the poetic works of a number of leading Iraqi and Arab poets into foreign languages, with the aim of introducing the Arab poetic experience to international readers and strengthening its presence within the global cultural landscape.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Wissam Al-Freiji, Head of the Expatriates Affairs Portfolio at the Embassy
