Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Meets Delegation from Al-Turath University

His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom met today with a delegation from Al-Turath University, headed by Professor Ali Al-Aqili, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, accompanied by members of the delegation. The meeting took place within the framework of strengthening academic and cultural cooperation, and exploring prospects for scientific engagement between Iraqi educational institutions and their British counterparts.
The university delegation included a number of officials and academics. During the meeting, an overview was presented on the university’s development and its academic programmes, alongside discussions on opportunities for joint cooperation in the fields of higher education, scientific research, and the exchange of academic and intellectual expertise.
His Excellency the Ambassador emphasised the importance of encouraging scholarship programmes and academic exchange between Iraq and the United Kingdom, given their vital role in transferring knowledge and expertise, and in advancing the academic and professional standards of Iraqi students and researchers. He also stressed the importance of focusing on high-quality educational services, developing scientific laboratories, and drawing on leading British experiences in this field.
His Excellency further commended the role played by Iraqi universities in supporting the advancement of higher education, and expressed appreciation for the efforts of Al-Turath University in establishing international academic partnerships that contribute to the development of the educational and research environment.
The university delegation expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s efforts in supporting Iraqi academic institutions and facilitating communication with universities and research centres in the United Kingdom, in a manner that serves Iraqi students and researchers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to strengthen the international presence of Iraqi universities and to support cultural and scientific exchange between the two countries.
