Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London meets researchers from Chatham House

His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, met with Hayder Al-Shakeri, Research Fellow at Chatham House, and Dr Renad Mansour, Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme and Director of the Iraq Initiative at the Institute. The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen research partnerships and enhance channels of international dialogue.
Discussions focused on prospects for joint cooperation between the Embassy and leading international research institutions, particularly Chatham House, in a manner that contributes to the development of academic and policy dialogue platforms supporting regional and international stability, and fostering greater mutual understanding between Iraq and countries around the world.
Both sides also addressed the importance of organising a series of specialised workshops and conferences in the coming period, aimed at providing a forum for the exchange of expertise and perspectives between researchers and decision-makers. Emphasis was placed on the need to attract distinguished research talent and to promote rigorous studies offering practical solutions to political, economic, security and developmental challenges, as well as regional and international issues of shared concern, with a view to shaping integrated strategic visions that support decision-making centres.
His Excellency the Ambassador underscored the importance of developing well-considered future programmes and plans in coordination with Chatham House, ensuring the delivery of tangible and sustainable outcomes, and reinforcing the role of scientific research as an effective instrument in supporting public policy and decision-making in Iraq.
