Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London meets Dr Ahmed Al‑Baghdadi

His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al‑Tamimi, met with Dr Ahmed Al‑Baghdadi, former Assistant Cultural Attaché in London and researcher specialising in curriculum studies. The meeting addressed a number of educational and cultural matters concerning members of the Iraqi community in the United Kingdom.
Discussions highlighted the importance of weekend schools in strengthening national and religious identity among Iraqi students in the diaspora, as well as the need to support and assist these institutions through the Embassy and the Cultural Attaché Office. Emphasis was also placed on enhancing engagement through field visits, attendance at their activities, and inviting school administrations to participate in Embassy events and public forums.
Dr Al-Baghdadi also presented his latest publication, Arabian Tales, a series of five booklets intended for Iraqi and Arab communities abroad, linked to the Arabic language curriculum designed for teaching Arabic in the diaspora.
In the context of supporting younger generations, both sides underscored the importance of developing programmes in English to introduce them to Iraq’s history and contemporary reality. They also stressed the value of encouraging the translation of Iraqi literary and cultural works into other languages, in order to highlight the country’s civilisational and humanitarian contributions.
