Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London Meets Dr Aqeel Ghalib Al-Fatlawi
His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, met with Dr Aqeel Ghalib Al-Fatlawi, researcher in the history and archaeology of Iraqi civilisations, General Coordinator of the Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists at the League of Arab States, and a member of the team responsible for writing and documenting the Encyclopaedia of Al-Qaeda and Daesh Terrorism in Iraq.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of Dr Al-Fatlawi’s visit to the United Kingdom, during which he delivered a series of lectures at several British universities, including the University of Oxford, the University of Leicester, Durham University, and University College London. The lectures focused on the launch of the encyclopaedia documenting the crimes committed by the terrorist organisations Al-Qaeda and Daesh in Iraq, the publication of which was undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. Dr Al-Fatlawi explained that work is currently under way to translate the encyclopaedia into a number of world languages.
His Excellency affirmed that intellectual and cultural achievements play a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and in strengthening the true image of Iraq as a country possessing a distinguished civilisational heritage extending across history. For his part, Dr Al-Fatlawi commended the cultural activities sponsored by the Embassy.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the guest thanked His Excellency the Ambassador for the warm hospitality, gracious reception, and for providing this opportunity. The meeting was also attended by Second Secretary Mohammed Nahidh Abdul Razzaq from the Embassy’s Legal Section.
