The Military Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London, Commodore Abdulhussein Alak Al-Maliki, visited the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, one of the world’s leading institutions in defence and security education and training.

During the visit, the Commodore met with a number of Iraqi officers participating in training courses at the Academy. Discussions were held on ways to enhance professional and military capabilities and to benefit from international expertise in the fields of education and training.

He was also briefed on the nature of the programmes delivered by the Academy, which include both short and long courses combining in-person, digital, and blended learning. These programmes focus on leadership, strategy, cyber security, information warfare, and multi-domain integration, in addition to business skills, languages, and international communication.

The Commodore commended the advanced standard of instruction provided by the Academy, emphasising the importance of such programmes in developing the capabilities of Iraqi personnel and strengthening international cooperation to address future challenges.

The Academy annually hosts more than 2,100 students from approximately 50 countries, including international partners. It offers specialised programmes such as English language training, senior leadership courses, and initiatives aimed at promoting integrity and reducing the risks of corruption.

This visit comes within the framework of supporting human capacity building and strengthening partnerships in the fields of defence education and training.
