Embassy of the Republic of Iraq Participates in the Launch Seminar of the Sovereign AI Power Index at the UK House of Lords

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the United Kingdom participated in the launch seminar of the Sovereign AI Power Index, held at the UK House of Lords at the Palace of Westminster in London. The event was convened at the invitation of Baroness Uddin, with the participation of Ms Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh, founder of the Index, alongside a distinguished group of decision-makers, government representatives, financial institutions, and technology experts.
The launch of this Index comes at a time when the world is witnessing a marked acceleration in the global race for artificial intelligence, which has emerged as a key determinant of national and economic power. This underscores the growing importance of adopting comprehensive national strategies to keep pace with these transformations.
The Index serves as a strategic tool to assess countries’ positions in the artificial intelligence race, based on five principal pillars: computing capacity, capital formation, regulatory readiness, data sovereignty, and the maturity of aligning artificial intelligence with strategic objectives.
The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq was represented at the event by First Secretary Haider Isam Mohammed.
