Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to London Receives Delegation from the Iraqi Ministry of Defence
His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, received Lieutenant General, with an engineering background , Shwan Mazhar Ali Rawandozi, Secretary-General of the Iraqi Ministry of Defence, and Lieutenant General Pilot Staff Mohannad Ghalib Al-Asadi, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the depth of the bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the United Kingdom and their shared commitment to further advancing cooperation across various fields, particularly in the military, defence, and security sectors, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two friendly countries. Discussions also addressed prospects for strengthening institutional cooperation, especially in the areas of training, capacity building, and the exchange of expertise, alongside support for technical and advisory programmes that contribute to enhancing the efficiency and operational readiness of the Iraqi forces.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of maintaining ongoing coordination and consultation on issues of mutual concern, in a way that reinforces efforts to promote security and stability and to address security challenges, in alignment with Iraq’s priorities during the reconstruction and development phase.
His Excellency underscored Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships based on mutual respect and shared interests, commending the level of cooperation with the United Kingdom and its continued support to Iraq across a number of vital areas.
Lieutenant General Rawandozi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London in advancing bilateral cooperation, emphasising the importance of sustained communication and coordination in support of the development of relations between the military institutions of both countries.
