Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London Strengthens Engagement with the Community and Supports Humanitarian Action
His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, met at the Embassy in London with a number of members of the Iraqi community, as well as representatives active in community and humanitarian work. This meeting forms part of the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening engagement with the community and supporting initiatives that serve its members.
His Excellency received Ms Sarah Hassan, Mr Abdullah Al-Hashemi, and Ms Asmahan Al-Nadawi, candidates for Westminster City Council in London. Discussions during the meeting addressed the situation of the Iraqi community in the United Kingdom and explored ways to support it and enhance its contributions to British society, alongside consideration of several matters of mutual interest. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of supporting young people and creating the conditions necessary for their integration into British society, while preserving their national identity and strengthening their cultural and social ties to their homeland.
His Excellency also received Mr Luay Sharaf Al-Din, Director of Charitable Activities at Al-Zahraa Charity Foundation. The meeting examined ways to enhance humanitarian cooperation and to further develop joint charitable work. Discussions covered a number of humanitarian initiatives and projects implemented by the Foundation, as well as mechanisms to support and expand them in a manner that serves the most vulnerable groups. Opportunities for coordination with official bodies and humanitarian organisations were also explored.
During both meetings, His Excellency the Ambassador underscored the importance of maintaining ongoing communication and coordination with members of the community and active institutions, commending the role played by Iraqi professionals and charitable organisations in supporting community and humanitarian work and in promoting the values of solidarity and social cohesion.
The guests expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception, affirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Embassy in a way that serves the Iraqi community and broadens the scope of humanitarian initiatives, thereby achieving a positive and sustainable impact.
These engagements form part of the Embassy’s continuing efforts to strengthen the presence of the Iraqi community within British society and to support community and humanitarian initiatives that contribute to reinforcing bilateral relations and serving the public good.
