Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London Attends Commemorative Event Marking the Martyrdom of Sayyid Mohammed Baqir Al-Sadr and Bint Al-Huda

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, accompanied by senior members of the Embassy staff, attended a public commemorative event organised by the Islamic Dawa Party in London under the title “The Triumph of Martyrdom”. The event marked the forty-sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of the Islamic thinker and philosopher Sayyid Mohammed Baqir Al-Sadr and his sister, the revered Alwiya Sayyida Amina Al-Sadr, known as Bint Al-Huda.
The event was attended by a large number of members of the Iraqi community, as well as representatives of religious and cultural institutions. It provided an opportunity to reflect on the lives of the two martyrs and their prominent role in advancing Islamic thought and in confronting injustice and tyranny.
In his address, His Excellency the Ambassador emphasised the importance of drawing inspiration from the values and principles embodied by Sayyid Mohammed Baqir Al-Sadr, particularly in the areas of justice, reform, and nation-building. He commended the sacrifices and courageous positions of the two martyrs, noting that they constitute a defining chapter in Iraq’s modern history. His Excellency further observed that the martyrdom of reformers and leading religious authorities marks the beginning of a renewed life for others, nourished by their pure sacrifice, and affirmed that their legacy remains a guiding light for future generations.
The event also featured remarks by a number of religious and political figures, highlighting the intellectual and humanitarian legacy of the two martyrs and their role in fostering societal awareness and advocating for reform. It concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold their path in promoting the values of justice and human dignity.
