Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Meets Director General for International Affairs at the UK Home Office

His Excellency Dr Salih Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, held a meeting with Mr Kingsley Green, Director General for International Affairs, at the UK Home Office in London.
At the outset, Mr Green warmly welcomed His Excellency and congratulated him on his return to the United Kingdom. He commended the depth and strength of the strategic partnership between Iraq and the United Kingdom, reaffirming that Iraq remains a priority partner for the UK. He further underscored the importance of enhancing coordination with international partners to address shared challenges, particularly in combating organised crime and human trafficking networks.
His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the longstanding and close relations between the two countries, highlighting the robust cooperation in addressing mutual challenges. He emphasised the importance of further strengthening collaboration between the respective law enforcement authorities, including through Memoranda of Understanding, with a view to curbing organised crime, irregular migration, and human trafficking.
The meeting also explored practical mechanisms to facilitate the issuance of visas to Iraqi nationals, in a manner that contributes to strengthening bilateral ties between Iraq and the United Kingdom.
In attendance from the UK Home Office were Mr Mark Griffiths, Director of Logistics at Immigration Enforcement, and Ms Rakhi Haria, Country Officer for Iraq. Representing the Embassy were Counsellor Jawhar Hassan Mohammed Amin, Head of the Legal Section, and Second Secretary Mohammed Nahidh Abdul Razzaq, also of the Legal Section.
