Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London Meets Delegation from the British Institute for the Study of Iraq

His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, received a delegation from the British Institute for the Study of Iraq (BISI) at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London. The delegation included Dr Rosalind Wade Haddon, Chair of BISI; Dr Noorah Al‑Gailani, BISI Trustee and Assistant Keeper of the Islamic Collection at the British Museum; Mr Ali Khadr, BISI Executive Office of the BISI; and Ms Rayya Ali, Administrator of the BISI.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen scientific and cultural cooperation between the Embassy and the Institute, particularly in the fields of archaeology, history and civilisational studies related to Iraq. They also explored the possibility of expanding the research grant programmes offered by the Institute to Iraqi researchers, in order to support academic studies and advance scholarly research related to Iraq’s history and cultural heritage.
His Excellency the Ambassador emphasised the importance of enhancing academic and cultural partnerships with British scientific institutions in a manner that supports Iraqi researchers and contributes to highlighting Iraq’s rich civilisational heritage at the international level.
The delegation expressed the Institute’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Iraqi academic and cultural institutions and to supporting researchers and scholars through training, professional development, and studies related to archaeology and the history of Iraq.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Wissam Al-Freiji, Head of Expatriate Affairs at the Embassy.
