The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in London Meets the Director of the Faiths Forum

His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, met with Mr Mustafa Field, Director of the Faiths Forum in London and recipient of the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) awarded by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2012 for his services to promoting ethnic and community cohesion. During the meeting, a number of issues of concern to members of the Iraqi community in Britain were discussed, particularly those relating to the youth.

The meeting addressed the role of Iraqi youth and the importance of strengthening their cultural, academic and professional presence in a manner that reflects the civilised image of Iraq and contributes to building bridges of communication and understanding with British society. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of training and preparing young people to participate actively and exert a positive influence within the community.

The Ambassador affirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting purposeful initiatives that enhance the role of Iraqi youth in British society, and expressed its readiness to cooperate with relevant bodies and institutions to provide an appropriate environment to empower them and develop their capacities, in line with their aspirations and in a way that serves their homeland and strengthens their positive presence in the United Kingdom.

Both sides emphasised the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the Iraqi community and contributes to enabling young people to become active and influential members of the society in which they live, while preserving their cultural and national identity.
