The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Received a Group of Iraqi Postgraduate Students Sponsored by Iraq’s Higher Education Development Committee
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Mr. Mohammed Jaafar Al-Sadr, welcomed a group of Iraqi postgraduate students who were sent by the Higher Education Development Committee of Iraq to the United Kingdom to complete their advanced studies. The meeting took place at the Embassy in London on Thursday, November 14th, 2024.
Ambassador Al-Sadr greeted the students and emphasized that the Embassy is committed to providing services to the Iraqi community, with a special focus on postgraduate students, who represent the promising future of Iraq. He confirmed that the Embassy is working diligently to improve the conditions of Iraqi students, guided by the principle of supporting intellectual elites and scientific talents.
The students expressed their gratitude for the support provided by the Embassy and the Cultural Attaché, particularly praising the efforts made by the Ambassador in advocating for increased student allowances in line with the rising cost of living. This advocacy resulted in a decision by the Iraqi Cabinet in October to raise these allowances. During the meeting, the students also discussed some of the challenges they face during their studies.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Hamza, the Iraqi Cultural Attaché to the United Kingdom.
