The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom receives the Iraqi Minister of Transport
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Mr. Mohammad Jaafar Al-Sadr, received the Iraqi Minister of Transport, Mr. Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Eng. Zahra Al-Bajari, in London, on Monday, 23/09/2024.
The meeting dealt with a number of files related to transport, and ways to benefit from British expertise in developing the work of this sector.
Minister Saadawi thanked Ambassador Al-Sadr for his hospitality and reception, pointing to the emphasis of Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani in the openness to successful experiences in the transport sector in the countries of the world, and increasing the volume of cooperation with specialized international companies that have a long history in implementing transport projects. He pointed to the government’s orientation towards building bridges of cooperation with the United Kingdom, in order to achieve mutual benefit, and to benefit from the expertise of the British side in the field of transport, in a way that contributes to lifting the European ban on the Iraqi national carrier.
The Minister also reviewed the Ministry’s strategic projects, pointing out that the mega projects that the Ministry intends to embark on need companies with great experience and professionalism in implementation, in accordance with the highest international quality standards.
Ambassador Al-Sadr stressed the keenness of the Iraqi Embassy in the United Kingdom to pay attention to establishing the best relations of the Iraqi government in various fields with the United Kingdom, facilitating all matters related to transportation and upgrading the level of relations between the two countries.
They also discussed the file of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the progress achieved by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Iraq to the Organization in cooperation with the Naval Attaché at the Embassy, during the past two years, as thirteen of the organization’s conventions and protocols were delivered to fulfil Iraq’s obligations, as well as preparing for the mandatory audit that Iraq will undergo in November 2025.
The meeting was attended by a number of general directors at the Ministry of Transport.
