The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to United Kingdom receives the delegation of the Political Prisoners Foundation
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Mr. Mohamed Jaafar Al-Sadr, received the delegation of the Political Prisoners Foundation, headed by the President of the Association for the Defense of Prisoners of Conscience in the United Kingdom, Mr. Nahedh Al-Hindi, at the embassy on Friday, 09/08/2024, and the delegation included the membership of:
– Dr. Faleh Hassan Ghati Al-Asadi.
– Mr. Hussein Hadi Abdul Reda Al-Jubouri.
– Mr. Muayad Abdul Hussein Hadi Al-Mahdawi.
– Mr. Hafez Abdul Hussein Abbas.
Ambassador Al-Sadr welcomed the distinguished guests at the Iraqi Embassy, which represents the home of all Iraqis, and congratulated them on their activities in the annual ceremony held by the Association for the Defense of Prisoners of Conscience, on 04/08/2024, on the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, which was approved by the United Nations in 1997, and the Ambassador also stressed the importance of repeating such events, so that this darkness is present in the minds of everyone, and not to forget those innocent people who sacrificed their lives for the word of truth, pointing to the importance of the human right In expressing his opinion freely, stressing the need for the oppressed to contribute to lifting injustice from others instead of thinking of revenge, and to seek to establish justice and establish a system that keeps injustice away from all members of society.
For his part, Mr. Nahedh Al-Hindi thanked the Ambassador for his facilities and support for holding the ceremony for the second year in a row, noting that the efforts have been crowned with success in officially registering the association in Britain, and that the association and the institution have a proposal to hold the event and repeat the experience in some other European countries, and the members of the delegation also pointed to the importance of prosecuting, prosecuting and reprisals against the symbols of the former regime, calling for UN intervention in this matter.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Sadr praised the idea, expressing his readiness to contribute and help in the success of holding the event in other countries, and that it is important to involve the Martyrs Foundation also in future events. With regard to reprisals against the symbols of the former regime, the Ambassador pointed out that there are specific mechanisms in the new Iraqi regime that ensure and regulate this process, such as the Accountability and Justice Commission and other competent courts, stressing the importance of providing a correct and successful experience for the purpose of not fearing the return of the Baathist regime.
