Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani Oversees the Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding with British Petroleum (BP) for the Rehabilitation and Development of Four Oil Fields in Kirkuk
Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani oversaw the signing ceremony of a comprehensive petroleum Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Oil and British Petroleum (BP) to develop oil and gas fields in Kirkuk. The memorandum was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayyan Abdul Ghani, on behalf of the Iraqi side, and BP’s CEO, Mr. Murray Auchincloss, on behalf of BP. The memorandum includes the rehabilitation and development of the four oil fields under the North Oil Company in Kirkuk: the Kirkuk oil field, Bai Hassan, Jambur and Khabbaz oil fields with the potential for agreements on other fields or exploratory blocks, as mutually agreed upon by both parties. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to optimally invest in promising energy opportunities, aiming to increase and enhance oil production and gas and solar energy investments in the region.
