In the presence of IMO experts, the General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) holds a conference on (Application of the Single Maritime Window System)
As a result of the continued efforts of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom (Permanent Mission of the Republic of Iraq to the International Maritime Organization (IMO)), and its Maritime Attaché, with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London, and in the presence of the organization’s experts in Basra Governorate.
The General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) held a conference on the implementation of the Maritime single window system.
The Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, said: Based on the directives of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Eng. Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, and the Minister of Transport, Mr. Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, to implement the single maritime window system and within the integrated technical cooperation program to support the member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the Ports Company held conferences and seminars in this aspect for the purpose of reaching the ranks of developed countries in the field of digitization, to facilitate trade and international maritime transport.
It is worth mentioning that the conference, which was attended by representatives of ports, companies and maritime departments, aims to assess the needs of the Iraq, and that this visit issues a report, a copy of which is provided to the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and a copy of which is provided to the Republic of Iraq, a purely technical report that gives Iraq full information on the ground and about future needs for the full application of the system.
The conference was attended and accompanied by the Maritime Attaché and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the International Maritime Organization, Captain Mazen Al Kaabi.
