Advisor to the Prime Minister for Technical Affairs meets with the British Export Finance Agency UKEF
The Advisor to the Prime Minister for Technical Affairs, Eng. Mohamed Sahib Al-Daraji, met with a number of officials of the British Export Finance Agency UKEF, at the British Treasury on Wednesday, 05/06/2024.
They reviewed the projects funded by the Agency and ways to accelerate their completion and proceed with new projects in the field of infrastructure, demining, firefighting equipment and others.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of financing the Agency for strategic projects for the Iraqi private sector in exchange for providing government sovereign guarantees, in continuation of similar agreements concluded by Iraq with the United States, Germany, Japan, Italy and Spain, and in line with the Iraqi government’s program of developing the private sector in order to strengthen and diversify the national economy and provide job opportunities.
The Agency expressed its support for the Iraqi government’s initiative to support the private sector and affirmed its readiness to cooperate in this field.
Both sides agreed to continue bilateral discussions in order to sign bilateral understandings in the near future.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the embassy, Counsellor Ahmed Mohamed Khaled, and First Secretary Mohammed Hameed Ahmed.
