Ambassador Mohammad Jaafar Al-Sadr meets with Mr. Afzal Khan The MP for the Labour Party in the British House of Commons

On Tuesday, 6 April 2021, H.E. Ambassador Mohammad Jaafar Al-Sadr met with with Mr. Afzal Khan, MP for the Labour Party in the British House of Commons, via teleconference.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in many fields, especially in the areas of security and immigration.

H.E. Ambassador Mohammad affirmed Iraq’s keenness to open up avenues for cooperation and to continue efforts to further our common interests. He invited Mr. Khan to join the All-party parliamentary group for Iraq in the British House of Commons and extended an invitation to Mr. Afzal Khan to visit Iraq.

Mr. Khan expressed his pleasure to communicate with the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London.  He stressed that the time has come to work together to overcome the challenges that the two countries are going through.  He also expressed his full readiness to join the All-party parliamentary group for Iraq, assuring the United Kingdom supports the government of Iraq and its people, as part of the efforts to build a prosperous state based on a stable democratic system.
