H.E. Ambassador Saleh Al- Tamimi meets with the British Council Representatives
H.E. Ambassador Saleh Al-Tamimi met with Sir Ciaran Devane, Chief Executive of the British Council and Mr. Lloyd Anderson, Head of the Africa and Middle East Division at the British Council, to discuss ways of developing scientific and cultural cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom.
H.E. mentioned that Iraq is working on improving the quality adoption of new modes of education through adopting new mechanisms through benefiting from the British experiences in education sector. In addition, H.E. highlighted Iraq’s keenness to develop cooperation between universities and educational institutions in Iraq and the UK. Also the Ambassador expressed the desire for benefiting from the experience of the United Kingdom to meet the Iraqi Higher Education’s needs on different projects in the future. Ambassador Saleh also discussed the possibility of providing scholarships to around (29) Iraqi students who got the highest marks this year.
Mr. Devan stressed the readiness of the British Council to develop scientific and cultural cooperation with Iraq and to open new horizons the relationships between educational institutions in both countries, pointing out that the Council is working to establish connections between schools in Iraq and the United Kingdom to enrich education and build confidence also he expressed his willingness to provide assistance to students who want to pursue their studies abroad.
