Iraq and UK confirm continued Military Cooperations


On 22/8/2019 in London, The Iraqi Minister of Defense H.E. Najah al-Shammari and his British counterpart Mr. Ben Wallace signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of defense and security.

Attending the signing ceremony, H.E Ambassador Saleh Al-Tamimi reiterated that this document is taking the relationships between the two countries into new heights, and that the Iraqi embassy in London will provide full support to ensure efficient implementation of the MOU and work towards expanding the circle of cooperation to include other sectors.

The MOU provides a solid ground for cooperation between the two countries in the fight against ISIS and consolidates a sustaining platform in the context of joint military operations.

The signing of the MOU today is a manifestation of the two state’s desire to strengthen the existing bilateral relations of joint cooperation and build long-term strategic relations that serve the common interests of both countries, the OMU gains in importance because it is considered the first to sign with the one of the coalition’s countries after the expulsion of ISIS from Iraqi territories.
