Foreign Ministers of Iraq, Jordan and Egypt Hold Important Meeting in Baghdad
Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim and his Jordanian counterpart Mr. Ayman Al-Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Sameh Shukri held a meeting in Baghdad to discuss issues of interest to the three countries.
The meeting discussed the enhancement of joint cooperation and the need to consolidate joint Arab action through the adoption of various understandings and partnerships, which were distributed to political, security, energy, industry, trade and housing sectors.
The tripartite meeting focused on Iraq’s support for reconstruction, activating investment, trade exchange, development of the energy sector, the promotion of joint industrial zones and cultural cooperation, as well as cooperation in combating terrorism and supporting Iraq’s efforts to eliminate the remnants of Da’esh terrorist gangs.
The Ministers agreed to hold meetings of follow up of the Working Group of the Tripartite Summit and to coordinate economic, development, political, security and cultural cooperation.
They also discussed regional and international issues reflecting the vital interests of the three countries, and concluded the importance of coordinating positions to provide comprehensive solutions to end the crisis in the region, especially our first case, Palestine, as well as Syria, Libya and Yemen.
Minister Alhakim stressed the position of Iraq in support of the efforts of political solution and the intensification of consultation, saying that this position stems from the fact that the instability in the region is cause for concern and caused the turmoil in the region as a whole; therefore the need to continue cooperation and framing what is agreed upon in practical steps; to get out of the current situation, restore stability in the region, and overcome the crisis.
The tripartite meeting in Baghdad comes within the framework of the implementation of the outcome of the tripartite summit meeting, which was convened by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, Jordanian King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi , and comes as a complement to other ministerial meetings that had been held earlier.
