Meeting of His Excellency Dr. Saleh al-Tamimi with Lord Jack McConnell and Ms. Fiona McLeod

His Excellency Dr. Saleh al-Tamimi met with Lord Jack McConnell and Ms. Fiona McLeod after their recent visit to Iraq to reflect on the humanitarian situation of internally displaced people in Dohuk and Sinjar.

The guests discussed the issue of mental health in Iraq , the security situation in Sinjar and the importance of promoting education as an integral part of the development process in Iraq. The Ambassador affirmed the Iraqi Government’s keenness to provide support and assistance to displaced  and affected people in reconstruction and the rehabilitation of the affected areas. His Excellency also stressed the government’s priority in the return of the displaced to their homes with the provision of the best services to them and that the Embassy and Cultural Attaché seek to strengthen relations between British and Iraqi universities through partnerships to serve the interests of both countries with the support of both governments.
