The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom receives a number of university presidents and deans of Iraqi colleges

After the end of the conference, which was held in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the British Council in London on 22- 23/05/2024, in London, under the title “Higher Education Dialogue between Iraq and the United Kingdom”

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Mr. Mohammad Jaafar Al-Sadr, received a number of university presidents, deans of Iraqi colleges, and officials from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the embassy on Friday, 24/05/2024.

The Ambassador welcomed the distinguished guests, stressing the importance of investing these visits to strengthen bilateral cultural relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom, pointing to the continuation of the embassy’s efforts to overcome obstacles and cooperate with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to achieve its goals and plans aimed at advancing the academic reality and raising the level of classification of Iraqi universities.

The meeting also dealt with many topics on the possibility of developing higher education in Iraq, and how to benefit from the British experience in the field of education, which is represented in having four universities out of the top 10 universities in the world.

On the other hand, the guests touched on the importance of the scholarship program, and the possibility of employing this program in strengthening bridges between Iraqi universities and British universities through the establishment of partnerships, conferences and seminars between Iraqi universities and foreign universities, especially British universities.

It is worth noting that the conference included intensive meetings over two days between university presidents, deans and officials from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, and a large number of British universities in order to exchange experiences and open horizons of cooperation at all levels, and it is worth noting that this initiative is the first of its kind at this level.

  • President of Al-Maaref University, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Saadi.
  • Director General of Scholarships at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hazem Baqir Taher.
  • Director General of the Department of Private Education, Dr. Fares Mahdi Alwan.
  • Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Babylon, Dr. Hadi Al-Musawi.
  • Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Mosul, Dr. Salwa Al-Mukhtar.
  • Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kufa, Dr. Ahmed Azab Al-Zubaidi.
  • Dean of the Faculty of Medicine / Hammurabi at the University of Babylon, Dr. Hadi Muhammad Ali.
  • Dr. Haider Al-Rubaie / College of Medicine / Al-Mustansiriya University.
