The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom meets the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the British Foreign Office
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Mr. Mohammed Jaafar Al-Sadr, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the British Foreign Office, Mr. Stephen Hickey, met at the Ministry’s headquarters, on Wednesday, 15/05/2024.
Mr. Hickey praised the stability witnessed by Iraq at the political and security levels, despite the challenges that the region is going through and their reflection on the regional atmosphere, stressing that his country is striving with all its efforts to reduce the level of violence and is working with all parties to reach a formula that ends tension in the region, Hickey also praised the level of cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the United Kingdom in developing infrastructure, stressing the importance of stability in Iraq being reflected in the development that the Iraqi government seeks to raise its levels in All sectors.
Ambassador Al-Sadr stressed that Iraq seeks to export a new image of itself to the international community by focusing on economic and investment partnerships and framing its relations with the countries of the world through common interests, stressing that the political and security stability witnessed by the country is the result of Iraq’s success in investing its balanced relations with the countries of the world to avoid being affected by the escalation in the region.
On the other hand, the Ambassador stressed that reducing tension in the region will not be achieved without resolving the Palestinian issue, and that the unjust war in Gaza is fuelling the conflict, noting that the friends of the Israeli entity and its allies do not exert sufficient pressure and do not take the required measures that deter it from continuing the war.
