Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur Celebrates National Sovereignty Day

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Malaysia celebrated National Sovereignty Day on October 5, 2026, at its headquarters in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, in the presence of official and diplomatic figures, as well as members of the Iraqi community in Malaysia.

In a speech delivered during the ceremony, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Malaysia, Mr. Adnan Mhalhal Al Maajoon, emphasized that Sovereignty Day represents a national occasion to renew pride in Iraq’s independence, territorial integrity, and national decision-making, while remembering the sacrifices of its people and martyrs in defending the homeland, its security, and dignity.

The Ambassador noted that sovereignty is embodied in independent national decision-making and relies on building a stable and strong state through its institutions and resources one capable of achieving development, prosperity, and optimal investment of Iraq’s resources, potential, and capabilities. He reaffirmed that Iraq’s sovereignty represents pride in its history and civilization, confidence in its people, and faith in its ability to build a nation that is secure, economically prosperous, dignified for its citizens, and active in its international relations and presence.

He also stressed that Iraq continues to strengthen its Arab, regional, and international presence, developing relations with various nations based on mutual interests and respect to help consolidate its position and enhance its role in the regional and global arenas.

The event featured emphasis on the importance of national unity and safeguarding Iraq’s independent decision-making. The Ambassador extended his congratulations to the members of the Iraqi community in Malaysia on this occasion, praying that (Allah), the Almighty bless Iraq and its people with continued security, stability, and prosperity, and that the nation maintains its active presence on the international arena. The staff of the Iraqi regional Culture Attache office in Kuala Lumpur participated in this celebration, along with some teaching staff from the Iraqi school in Kuala Lumpur.
