Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur Commemorates the Twelfth Anniversary of the Genocide Against the Yazidi Component.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur commemorated, on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, the twelfth anniversary of the genocide perpetrated against the Yazidi component by the terrorist Da’esh (ISIL) gangs. The commemoration reaffirmed the importance of preserving the memory of this humanitarian tragedy, supporting the pursuit of justice, and honoring the victims and those affected by this heinous crime against humanity.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs and victims of the genocide, as well as all Iraqi martyrs.

In his official remarks during the event, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Counsellor Dr. Hudhaifa Zead Mahmoud, emphasized that the crimes committed by the terrorist Da’esh (ISIL) organization against the Yazidi component rank among the most atrocious crimes witnessed by humanity, standing in direct contradiction to the principles and values upheld by all religions, including the true teachings of Islam.

He also highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Government of Iraq to provide support and care for survivors, strengthen the pursuit of justice, and advance the rights of victims and those affected by these crimes
