Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Meets PETRONAS Vice President to Discuss Cooperation in the Energy Secto
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Counsellor Ahmed Ghanim Abdul Jabbar, met on 28 April 2026 with senior officials of the Malaysian company PETRONAS at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The meeting was attended by the Senior Vice President for Exploration and Production, Mr. Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab, and the Regional Head of the company’s Iraq office, Mr. Mohd Bohari Mohd Ali, along with a number of company officials.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in the fields of exploration and production. They also reviewed available investment opportunities and explored avenues to expand partnership prospects in a manner that serves mutual interests.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. affirmed the keenness of the relevant authorities in the Republic of Iraq to further develop cooperation with leading international companies in Malaysia, commending the role played by PETRONAS in the energy sector and its advanced expertise in the oil and gas industry.
For their part, the company’s representatives expressed their interest in strengthening their presence in Iraq and in regional markets, underscoring their readiness to expand their activities and investments in a way that supports energy projects and contributes to sustainable development.
