Chargé d’Affaires Meets Senior Private Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament to Advance Bilateral Cooperation

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Iraq to Malaysia, Mr. Ahmed Ghanim Abduljabbar, met on 3 April 2026 with Mr. Abdul Qader Siddiq bin Ahmad, Senior Private Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament, within the framework of strengthening official channels of communication and advancing bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the trajectory of Iraqi–Malaysian relations and underscored the importance of building on the progress achieved in joint cooperation, particularly in the academic and scientific fields. The Chargé d’Affaires emphasized the need to expand partnerships between Iraqi universities and their Malaysian counterparts in a manner that enhances knowledge exchange and elevates the level of educational cooperation.

The discussions also addressed prospects for economic cooperation, with the Chargé d’Affaires calling for increased Malaysian business presence in the Iraqi market and greater utilization of their advanced expertise in the fields of energy, infrastructure, construction, and technology, in support of Iraq’s development and reconstruction efforts.

The meeting further covered a number of issues of mutual interest at both the regional and international levels, with both sides emphasizing the importance of intensifying communication and activating cooperation mechanisms to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.

For his part, the Malaysian official expressed his appreciation for the visit, affirming his country’s keenness to continue coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur in a manner that contributes to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing them to broader horizons.
