Chargé d’Affaires Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations with Malaysian Undersecretary for West Asia.

The Chargé d’ Affaire, Counselor Mr. Ahmed Ghanim Abdul Jabbar, met with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs for West Asia Dato’ Wan Aznainizam Yusri bin Wan Abdul Rashid, on 12 March 2026, to discuss the ways of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and expanding prospects for cooperation across various fields.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the administrative capital, Putrajaya, where both sides reviewed the course of Iraqi – Malaysian relations and explored avenues for further development in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries.

The two sides discussed opportunities to enhance economic and trade cooperation, as well as ways to expand the presence of Malaysian companies in the Iraqi market and benefit from their expertise in the fields of infrastructure, energy, construction, and technology.

The Chargé d’Affaires, Counselor Ahmed Ghanim Abdul Jabbar, affirmed Iraq’s keenness to develop its relations with Malaysia and deepen bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of encouraging Malaysian companies to invest in Iraq and contribute to development and reconstruction projects.

For his part, the Undersecretary for West Asia, Dato’ Wan Aznainizam Yusri bin Wan Abdul Rashid, expressed his country’s interest in strengthening relations with Iraq and expanding areas of cooperation, particularly in the economic and investment sectors, in addition to developing collaboration in education, training, and knowledge exchange.

Both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultations in a manner that contributes to strengthening bilateral relations and opening broader prospects for partnerships between governmental institutions and the private sector in both countries.
