Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Visits the National Cyber Security Agency of Malaysia to Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, Counsellor Ahmed Ghanim Abduljabbar, met on 13 February 2026 with Mr. Mohd Zuri bin Zinul, Director of the Policy and International Cooperation Division at the National Cyber Security Agency, at the Agency’s headquarters in Putrajaya, to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and the exchange of technical expertise.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed prospects for cooperation across various fields and emphasized the importance of enhancing institutional coordination to address the growing challenges associated with digital threats, particularly in light of the rapid transition towards modern digital and technological systems.

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. reaffirmed the Republic of Iraq’s commitment to developing its national capabilities in the field of cybersecurity and to benefiting from Malaysia’s advanced experience, particularly in capacity-building, training, and the exchange of expertise, in a manner that contributes to strengthening digital infrastructure security and protecting vital institutions.

For his part, Mr. Mohd Zuri bin Zinul welcomed the strengthening of cooperation with the Iraqi side, affirming the Agency’s readiness to further develop institutional channels of cooperation and support joint initiatives aimed at enhancing cyber readiness and reinforcing digital security.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of organizing joint training programs and workshops, as well as exchanging visits among specialists, in a way that would consolidate and expand bilateral cooperation and reflect the depth of relations between the Republic of Iraq and Malaysia, as well as the shared commitment of both countries to advancing partnership in technical fields of mutual interest.
