Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Meets Delegation of the University of Baghdad
The Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, Counsellor Ahmed Ghanim AbdulJabbar, met with a delegation from the University of Baghdad, in the presence of the Cultural Attaché, Dr. Abduljaleel Mohammed Majeed, on 13 January 2026, within the framework of supporting and enhancing academic and scientific cooperation between Iraq and Malaysia.
The delegation included Prof. Dr. Kamis Awad Zidan, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Hussein Albahadly, Dean of the College of Arts; Prof. Dr. Idress Aljuhaishi, Dean of the College of Education; and Dr. Duraid Y. Mohammed, Director of the International Office.
The meeting reviewed the objectives of the delegation’s visit to Malaysia, which focused on exploring prospects for cooperation with Malaysian universities in the fields of student training, student exchange, and the activation of the “Study in Iraq” program in the disciplines of Islamic Studies and the Arabic language, in addition to discussing joint supervision programs and joint research grants.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. reaffirmed the Embassy’s support for academic initiatives aimed at enhancing the international presence of Iraqi universities, and commended the role of the Cultural Attaché in facilitating communication and building academic partnerships.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of sustaining coordination and cooperation in a manner that serves shared academic interests and strengthens educational relations between the two countries.
