Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Meets Vice President of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, Counsellor Ahmed Ghanim AbdulJabbar, met on Monday, 15 December 2025, with the Vice President of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), Ms. Christine Tee Kim Chen, in the context of strengthening economic and trade relations between the Republic of Iraq and Malaysia.
The meeting was also attended by Second Secretary Ms. Doaa Jumaa Neama, while the MICCI delegation included General Committee Member Mr. Martin Ang, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Lee Han Ling, Deputy Director General Mr. Leslie Tan, and Assistant Director General Ms. Faten Liana.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the trade and investment fields, as well as ways to activate channels of communication between public and private sector institutions in both countries. The discussions aimed at encouraging the Malaysian business community to explore available opportunities in the Iraqi market, particularly in the sectors of energy, infrastructure, industry, and agriculture.
Counsellor Ahmed Ghanim AbdulJabbar reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting joint initiatives and facilitating communication between Iraqi companies and their Malaysian counterparts, underscoring the important role played by the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry in building sustainable economic partnerships that serve mutual interests.
For their part, representatives of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed their interest in enhancing cooperation with the Republic of Iraq and their readiness to organize joint business meetings and exchange trade delegations, with a view to expanding the horizons of economic cooperation between the two countries.
This meeting forms part of a series of engagements conducted by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur aimed at strengthening Iraq’s economic presence and broadening avenues of cooperation with Malaysian economic institutions
