The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur Strengthens Academic Cooperation with the University of Malaya, Malaysia
Continuing its persistent efforts to enhance cultural, scientific, and academic cooperation between Iraq and Malaysia, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Counselor Ahmed Ghanim Abduljabbar, responded on 29 November 2025 to an official invitation from the University of Malaya, one of Malaysia’s most prestigious universities. The University holds a strong global reputation and is officially recognized by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as an accredited institution for Iraqi scholarship programs.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. was received by the Director of the International Relations Centre at the University, Dr. Andri Andriyana, who warmly welcomed his guest and expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s commitment to maintaining direct communication with Malaysian universities and following up on the affairs of Iraqi students studying there.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. also participated in the University’s PhD graduation ceremony, where among the graduates was the Iraqi student, Dr. Saeed Al-Shammari, who successfully earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy. Dr. Al-Shammari had produced numerous valuable research works within an exceptional timeframe, earning high praise from his professors, colleagues, and specialized scientific centers. The University administration highlighted the advanced level of Iraqi students across various disciplines, commending their discipline, diligence, and positive interaction with peers from diverse countries and cultures, in addition to their academic excellence, which reflects a bright image of Iraq on the international academic stage.
Following the ceremony, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. met with Dr. Saeed Al-Shammari to congratulate him on his graduation and wished him a promising future where his expertise and knowledge would contribute to serving his homeland, Iraq, affirming that his achievements represent a source of pride for Iraq and reflect the positive image of Iraqi students in global universities.
