The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur Participates in the Opening of the Omani Studies and Research Centre and the Ninth Omani Conference in Malaysia

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, represented by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Counselor Ahmed Ghanem Abdul Jabbar, participated in the opening ceremony of the Omani Studies and Research Centre at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) on 3 November 2025. The event coincided with the launching of the Ninth Omani Conference and the Global Arab-Islamic Festival 2025, in the presence of a wide range of officials and academics.

Dr. Rahmah binti Ahmad Al-Haj Othman, Director of the Centre, emphasized that the establishment of this academic institution represents a significant step toward strengthening cultural and academic cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and Malaysia, serving as a bridge connecting East and West on the foundations of knowledge and human fraternity.

For his part, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud Al-Siyabi, Secretary-General of the Office of the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, explained that this project is the outcome of scholarly cooperation between both sides and an extension of centuries-old civilizational ties that unite them.

The ceremony also featured the opening of an exhibition showcasing Omani archaeological and documentary collections, along with cultural programs highlighting the richness and diversity of Omani heritage, attended by a distinguished gathering of diplomatic and academic figures and students.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. expressed his pride in participating in this distinguished cultural event, affirming the importance of enhancing scientific and cultural cooperation among academic institutions in Arab and Islamic countries, in order to promote the values of knowledge, openness, and the building of a more prosperous future for generations to come.
