Official Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Counselor Ahmed Ghanim Abdul Jabbar, met with Mr. Abu Hirzan Mustapa, Chief Assistant Secretary of the Bilateral Relations Division (in charge of Iraqi affairs) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, on 28 August 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The meeting commenced with an exchange of courtesies and words of welcome. The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. expressed his gratitude and appreciation for holding this meeting, conveying the Embassy’s and its staff’s keenness to maintain channels of communication and to enhance prospects of constructive and mutual cooperation with all executive officials across various Malaysian departments, in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly countries.

During the meeting, reference was made to the successful visit conducted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development of Malaysia, Dr. Ahmed Zahid Bin Hamidi, accompanied by a delegation of 11 officials and executive staff, including the Minister of Higher Education, the Chairman of the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), and the Political Secretary to the Head of Delegation. The visit took place on August 22–26/ 2025. It included official meetings with H.E. President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, H.E. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, as well as H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Fuad Hussein.

The discussions also highlighted the advanced level that Iraq–Malaysia relations have reached, in addition to reviewing a draft Memorandum of Understanding between both sides, as well as prospects for future cooperation projects. For his part, Mr. Abu Hirzan Mustapa expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and all Embassy staff for their efforts in strengthening bilateral relations and elevating them to the highest levels. He further emphasized the Embassy’s positive and constructive role in facilitating all official procedures related to the Malaysian delegation’s visit, as well as its continuous communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and its diligent follow-up on all matters of enhancing these relations in all their dimensions.
