Meeting with the President and Members of the Executive Committee of the Malaysia Cancer Management Association (Cancer Care)
In continuation of the Embassy’s diligent efforts to sustain cooperation and establish channels of communication with various institutions, departments, associations, and active organizations in the field, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Counselor Ahmed Ghanem Abdul Jabbar, met with Mr. Mohd Amin Ali HJ Sidik, President of the Malaysia Cancer Management Association (Cancer Care Malaysia), and his accompanying delegation, on 3rd of September 2025 at the Embassy headquarters.
The meeting began with an exchange of courtesy and words of welcome. The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the President of the Association and his delegation for visiting the Embassy, emphasizing the Embassy’s constant readiness to open new prospects of cooperation with various organizations, associations, and institutions active in the Mission’s area of work. He further underlined the importance of their diverse specializations and wide range of activities, as these contribute positively to giving further momentum to Iraq–Malaysia bilateral relations.
For their part, the Malaysian guests expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. for holding this meeting and presented an overview of the Association’s work and activities, which focus on precise and therapeutic care for individuals diagnosed with cancer, as well as the exchange of medical expertise to ensure the recovery of as many patients as possible from this serious disease. The discussion also touched on the health initiative launched by the Association under the title “My Cancer Fight Initiative”, aimed at providing all necessary requirements for cancer patients—including medication, welfare, education, and increasing public awareness about the risks of cancer and the importance of avoiding harmful behaviors that cause it.
What distinguishes this initiative, as highlighted by the President of the Association, is that it is considered a collective pledge and joint program of action involving everyone—from patients’ families to all contributors—rather than being a traditional treatment program. He further expressed the Association’s aspiration for international cooperation to benefit from global medical expertise in cancer treatment, identifying collaboration with the Iraqi health sector in this regard as one of the initiative’s core objectives.
In response, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. welcomed and supported this step, affirming his and the Embassy staff’s full readiness to cooperate with the Association in this field and to facilitate all necessary procedures in coordination with the relevant Iraqi authorities and institutions. He emphasized that this represents an important step towards exchanging expertise and knowledge in combating cancer. Both sides agreed to hold another meeting to discuss the next steps of the proposed future cooperation project. The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. was also invited to visit the specialized health and treatment centers for cancer patients that cooperate with the Association, in order to observe the latest equipment and therapeutic methods that have been adopted.
