Meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of SPARCO ENGINEERING
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, Counselor Mr. Ahmed Ghanim Abduljabbar, met with the Executive Director of SPARCO ENGINEERING SDN BHD, Mr. RAJA ARIFF, and the Managing Director Mrs. SUMASNI SULAIMAN, along with the company’s staff, at the Embassy’s headquarters on 18 August 2025. The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Doa Jumaah Neamah, Second Secretary at the Embassy.
Following an exchange of courtesies, the CEO expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Embassy for facilitating this meeting, which aimed at exploring prospects of future cooperation with various Iraqi institutions from both the public and private sectors. The discussions highlighted aspects of cooperation, as the CEO conveyed his intention to launch the company’s commercial and investment activities in Iraq, particularly in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemicals, and agricultural fertilizers. This decision comes in light of the positive indicators within Iraq’s investment environment, as numerous companies are competing to establish their projects and operations there. The company already enjoys a significant economic and investment presence abroad, notably in Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, in the fields of oil and gas, petrochemicals, and general industries.
The Chargé d’Affaires affirmed that the Embassy’s doors remain open at all times to Malaysian institutions, agencies, and companies interested in working and investing in Iraq’s promising market. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s full readiness to maintain communication and intensify cooperation, as this will positively contribute to strengthening bilateral relations with Malaysia. He also outlined the following points:
1. Iraq is witnessing remarkable growth as a result of the successful government programs and development plans that the Republic of Iraq has implemented and continues to implement, with the aim of advancing the economic reality and moving forward with investment projects.
2. Iraq is opening the door to foreign investments in infrastructure, energy, and public services projects, which positively contributes to advancing and accelerating economic development.
3. The discussions also highlighted Malaysian companies’ participation in exhibitions, conferences, and economic events held periodically across various Iraqi provinces. The Embassy refers invitations to these events to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which in turn forwards them to the relevant authorities, thereby facilitating partnerships that contribute to Iraq’s economic growth.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chargé d’Affaires expressed his gratitude for their presence and reiterated his readiness to extend every possible support for their success in service of Iraq and its people. Both sides exchanged commemorative gifts and underscored the importance of continuing such meetings in order to achieve the shared goals of Iraq and Malaysia.
