Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur Participates in the International Conference on Science Diplomacy and Regional Prosperity.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, represented by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Counselor Ahmed Ghanim AbdulJabbar, and First Secretary Ahmed Ali Jasim, took part in the International Conference on Science Diplomacy and Regional Prosperity, held from 6–7 August 2025 at the headquarters of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) in Cyberjaya, jointly organized with the International Institute of Science Diplomacy and Sustainability (IISDS) of UCSI University.

The conference witnessed high-level participation, led by YB Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Malaysia, alongside a distinguished group of policymakers, diplomats, academics, and industry experts from Southeast Asia and beyond.

The scientific sessions of the conference addressed several strategic themes (topics), including the Sustainable Development Goals, preparedness for pandemics, strengthening regional cooperation, building bridges between science and policy, as well as reviewing the Malaysian and European experiences in science diplomacy, and putting forward innovative perspectives on preparing young diplomats for multilateral negotiations.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants underscored the importance of employing science diplomacy as a tool to advance (promote) common interests and foster regional partnerships. They also called for the development of a strategic roadmap for ASEAN, aimed at strengthening institutional frameworks, aligning shared priorities, and leveraging science, technology, and innovation in support of diplomacy, sustainable development, and long-term economic integration in the region.
