The Iraqi Embassy Strengthens Academic Cooperation at the Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University Forum with Malaysian Universities
As part of efforts to enhance academic and research collaboration between the Republic of Iraq and Malaysia, the Iraqi Embassy participated in the forum organized by The University of Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq (Peace be upon him) on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
The Embassy was represented by the Deputy Head of Mission, Counselor Ahmed Ghanim Adbuljabbar, and the Cultural and Media Affairs Officer, Second Secretary Maha Jassim. Their participation aimed to introduce Malaysian universities to The University of Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq (Peace be upon him), its departments, and its diverse academic services.
The forum began with a speech delivered by Counselor Ahmed Ghanim Abduljabbar, who presented the depth of bilateral relations between Iraq and Malaysia, dating back to 1972. He praised the shared achievements, such as the reopening of the Malaysian Embassy in Baghdad, the launch of the direct air route between the two countries, and visa facilitation for Malaysian passport holders. He also reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to advancing higher education through initiatives like the “Study in Iraq” program, which offers scholarships to international students.
In turn , the Cultural Attaché, Dr. Abduljalil Al-Hasnawi, delivered a welcoming address, including a presentation on the participating Malaysian universities, showcasing their academic services, as well as the plans and achievements of Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in enhancing the global ranking of Iraqi universities and advancing academic and scientific development projects.
At the conclusion of the forum, the Iraqi Embassy was honored in recognition of its ongoing role in supporting education and scientific research.
The forum was attended by representatives from several Malaysian universities from various states, along with Iraqi academics working in Malaysian educational institutions.
